Welcome to the first edition of ANT Telecom's
quarterly newsletter.
We want to provide an effective and useful way of communicating with our clients and prospects to provide not only a newsletter with updates on the industry and the work we've been doing but also something from which you are able to get some real value.
It is this theme of value and thinking of our clients first that is engrained in ANT's ethos company-wide. We see ourselves as fairly unique in the industry in the way we approach our work.
For us, it is about the client – what do our clients need? How can we perform better? How can we add value to their businesses through us working together? |
|
As a company that is big enough to operate effectively yet small enough to care, ANT's flexibility means our services continue to evolve with the industry. This is especially true of service delivery – we recognise that expectations change and what was acceptable in service delivery two years ago, is no longer. In line with our evolving lifestyle as businesses and consumers, we are demanding a high quality of service, regular updates on the status of what we're paying for and more options of keeping in touch.
We've reflected this throughout our business, not only in sales and client delivery but also in the way in which our engineers operate and the options available to our clients for keeping in touch and the regular contact we have across each job.
I hope you enjoy this first issue!

Industry view
Business communication – breaking the commodity myth
The growing sophistication and complexity of
communications technologies offers organisations
the chance to transform performance. Yet by
persisting in treating communications – from new
telephones to Wi-Fi – as a commodity, the vast
majority of organisations are failing to make the best
buying decisions. With no outside help, no
assessment of business needs and a cost first
attitude, organisations are making expensive
mistakes and missing out on business-critical
innovation.
It is time for UK business to ask some tough questions:
| |
How much value is the organisation attaining from its ICT investment?
How much of the equipment purchased in recent years remains unused or has failed to fulfil objectives?
And how much additional productivity could have been gained by making small changes to the ICT specification? |
As Chris Potts, sales & marketing manager, ANT Telecom
explains, business communication is a fundamental
requirement not a commodity; organisations need to
understand the pros and cons of any investment and its
role in improving business processes, from efficiency to
customer service, to attain real value in an increasingly
complex marketplace.

The Health & Safety Executive's recent introduction of a Fee
for Intervention is a clear statement of intent in a country
where, in reality, most organisations, especially those who
have not experienced an accident or major breach, are likely
to be failing to meet either regulation or health and safety
best practice. With new H&S demands constantly evolving –
such as ensuring the health and safety of lone workers –
organisations now face significant costs (estimated at £100
per hour, up to £8,000 for a major breach) should an HSE
investigation occur.
A world leading premium
drinks business has long
had a focus on lone worker
safety. Over the last fifteen
years, the organisation has
rolled out an 'intrinsically
safe' lone worker
communications solution
from ANT Telecom that not
only has addressed the
safety needs of its lone
workers but also increased
internal business
communication and
productivity in 18 sites
across the UK.
But safeguarding lone
workers is not only relatively
simple – it can transform
business productivity and
effectiveness.
The first requirement any
business must consider is
the dangers facing a lone
worker and the potential
communication limitations
based on location and the
risks associated with a job
or activity. Organisations
cannot simply provide a
mobile phone and consider the lone worker health & safety
obligations are covered. In fact many businesses do not allow for the use of standard mobile phones, for
example, in explosive atmospheres where a mobile
phone would potentially cause a problem rather
than provide protection.

ANT Telecom provides luxury hotel Fredrick's
with an effective guest communication system |
|
Bespoke communications provider, ANT Telecom, has
expanded its service offering to luxury hotel and spa,
Fredrick's, to incorporate broadband and telephone
lines in addition to the current PBX system and
support it currently provides. With the combined

ensure that both employees and customers benefit
from excellent communications throughout the 37

Giles Shaw, General Manager at Fredrick's, comments, "Within the hotel business, effective communication is
extremely important. It is absolutely vital that we are able to
communicate with guests while they are in residence."
He adds "We receive a large number of incoming calls for
our residents, therefore we require a system that allows us
to reach residents rapidly and as effectively as possible."

Wider range of
ATEX-compliant
devices now
offered by ANT
Telecom as part
of its tailored
communications
service |
|
|
ANT Telecom has announced it now offers a wider range of ATEX-compliant, intrinsically safe communication devices tailored to individual business requirements. ANT Telecom offers a variety of devices that are compliant with the two European ATEX directives – 95 and 137 – to which organisations in the EU must adhere to in protecting employees from explosion risks in areas with an explosive atmosphere. The directives refer to equipment and health and safety and outlines what equipment is suitable for use within these environments.
Working in a potentially explosive environment can be a dangerous job, even more so for lone workers operating in these areas. For ANT, it was key that organisations have the facility to be equipped with the means by which to contact lone workers and also safeguard them whilst they work in dangerous environments.
