- Ex-approved product offers highly flexible communications capabilities for use in hazardous environments, such as petrochemical plants
- Comprehensive range of compatible handsets includes the only Ex-approved model on the UK market with vibrator call alert
ANT Telecommunications has launched an intrinsically safe DECT base station to facilitate low-cost cordless communications in hazardous environments, such as petrochemical plants and refineries. The company believes that its new RBS 492 DECT (digital enhanced cordless telecommunication) base station is the first in the UK to be certified under ATEX 100a Directive 94/9/EC as suitable for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. ANT Telecom already supplies EX-approved industrial DECT handsets as part of the communications systems it produces for use in hazardous environments. The ability to now be able to place DECT base stations within hazardous areas will enable the company to provide customers in the petrochemical sector with total site communications facilities, offering seamless communication between all the people on the site, as well as connection to the public telephone network. The improved efficiency of a DECT system compared with a conventional radio system will offset the cost of installing this technology.
As a specialist communications solutions company with a particular expertise in systems for process monitoring and safety applications, ANT Telecom already supplies a range of Ex-approved DECT handsets that are compatible with the new RBS 492 base station. Several of these handsets incorporate 'lone worker' features such as emergency call keys, and offer text messaging facilities that can be used as part of a fully integrated process - or site-monitoring system. The range also includes the only Exapproved DECT handset on the UK market with a vibrator call-alert function.
Process Monitors
A warning message can come from a machine as well as a member of
staff and the message can be sent to more than one handset. A process
monitor in the palm of your hand can minimise production down time.
Alarms
Building alarms can be linked to the communication system alerting key
staff to important situations. Staff working alone or in hazardous
Security guards can get immediate notification of alarms - even if they are in a remote location and can't here the siren.

DECT Protection
DECT provides mobile voice communication for both commercial and
industrial environments and is an effective medium for handling lone worker
and plant process and building management alarm information. Alarms go
to the right person or response team wherever they are on site immediately
when an event occurs. Handset users can contact each other, make and
receive calls to telephone extensions and external numbers if permitted.
Emergency features include push button and / or automatic tilt switch / no
motion sensor for man down alarm. Importantly, DECT can dramatically
improve the efficient use of manpower on site.
Paging Protection
The ANT OCP Security Radio Paging System provides radio coverage
across the site via its central base station system and effectively integrates
a mix of both text and two-way speech pagers. The system also provides a
platform for lone worker and site management alarms.
These lone worker handsets work off the GSM mobile network (O2, Vodafone etc) and therefore no system infrastructure is required. They come with different levels of lone worker protection features including push button, man down tilt and no-motion sensors. The handset user has access to contact up to 2 pre-set numbers e.g. control operator and security and can receive incoming calls.
Safety Call System
Our Safety Call System is designed for lone workers using the company's
existing desktop, DECT, and mobile GSM telephones.
Private Mobile Radio with Man-Down features
ANT Telecom partner PMR designer and Manufacturer Entel, to provide a
wide range of radios for environments such as Land, Marine and ATEX
rated areas. Entel can boast manufacturing one of the smallest radios in
Europe, almost half the size its competition and provides safety features
that protect staff working alone.

The OCP radio paging system is an alphanumeric information and paging system, which takes into account all the demands on today's on-site communication technology. Its strength lies in the transmission of text messages, which can be entered in various ways. Messages entered manually and pre-programmed messages are both transmitted in a matter of seconds, maintaining system availability at all times.
Personal Security & Lone Worker
In the event of an accident in a dangerous working environment, an
emergency call can automatically be triggered by sensors, e.g. in case of a
fall or unconsciousness. However, the user can also raise the alarm himself
with the emergency signal key.
The design of our top system for on-site communication provides almost unlimited flexibility and can be tailored to meet the specific requirements of any company or institution.
